Staff Accountant

We are seeking a staff accountant to join our 50+ employee company. This is an exciting opportunity to join a Private Real Estate Investment company in Boston and take a lead role in a growing organization. Reporting to the Assistant Controller and Controller and working closely with external and internal clients, the Staff Accountant will be responsible for overseeing a multifaceted portfolio of construction projects including all related accounting, reporting, and analysis. Candidates with advanced Excel skills as well as exposure to Real Estate accounting software such as Yardi, MRI, Timberline or Skyline are encouraged to apply.

Qualified candidates must have a degree in Accounting and at least 3 years of progressive real estate experience through public accounting or private industry with commercial assets. Interested individuals should have previous exposure to the following areas:

• Project Accounting
• Budgeting
• Job Costing
• Preparation of Financial Statements
• Complex reconciliations
• Coordination of month and year-end close activities
• Cash flow projections
• Lease abstractions
• Property Tax analysis
• Ad-hoc reporting and analysis

Candidate Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience in cost accounting/construction project environment.
• Minimum 4 year degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
• Knowledge of accounting principles and general business practices
• Demonstrate understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Ability to use advanced functions of Microsoft Excel
• Ability to balance work across multiple projects
• Ability to work independently and to effectively prioritize workload and tasks
• Solid communication skills, with proficiency in speaking and writing
• Knowledge of Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate software
