Accounting Clerk

We are seeking a part-time skilled accounting clerk to join our 50+ employee company. Ideal candidate will be familiar with accounting procedures and have a flair for numbers. As a member of the company’s accounting department, the position will assist with both clerical and administrative tasks involving reporting, bookkeeping, research, as well as the resolution of discrepancies related to the upkeep of corporate financial records at the direction of the controller.

  • Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department
  • Type accurately, prepare and maintain accounting documents and records
  • Prepare bank deposits, general ledger postings and monthly statement of accounts
  • Reconcile accounts in a timely manner
  • Enter key data of financial transactions into database/accounting system
  • Research, track, and restore accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies
  • Collect and sort invoices and process payment to vendors
  • Process cash receipts
  • Process vendor invoices for payment
  • Prepare and issue invoices to clients on a monthly basis
  • Review and follow up of delinquent account receivables
  • Run accounting software program (Sage 300 Construction) to process accounts payable and receivable, disbursements, expense vouchers, and cash receipts
  • Oversee Corporate American Express Program
  • Other duties as directed by the controller

Candidate Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate software or another compatible accounting software
  • Solid communication skills, with proficiency in speaking and writing
  • Strong people skills – a polite and professional demeanor when working with other companies, clients and coworkers
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Aptitude for numbers
  • Ability to act responsibly and ethically when working with sensitive financial information
  • Familiarity with Corporate American Express Program
  • Familiarity with AvidPay check cutting software

Candidate Experience & Education

  • 1-3 years of accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
